We do the same, MB. My father always fed the birds year round, but told us we really shouldn't because some of them won't migrate as a result. Did it ever stop him? Nope - the old softie.

I am the same. As long as they want to hang around I'll just keep putting out the suet, seeds, and peanut butter!

Gem, the "old softie" was wrong about the migration being effected by feeding. The following is a link that explains it in plain English... so now everyone can enjoy feeding their birds all year, guilt free!

On a similar note: I saw some bluebirds near my house on my last visit to Maryville so I can't wait to put out feeders and see them again. They have completely disappeared from my neighborhood up here.

The robins are here, too. We don't see too many in FL; but, I remeber them from my years in WI as their appearance was a sure sign of spring.

Wow, hiknapster, that is absolutely beautiful!! Thanks for showing us. It has been so rainy and gloomy here that although things are popping, it is difficult to really appreciate it all. I am so looking forward to our TN trip in 2 weeks. It will be beautiful!

AlisonL, you know it always slips right past me, and maybe others too, that they are several TN-bound folks who are still under a pile of snow. I am wishing really hard for Spring to hit Maine big-time very soon! I know it can't come soon enough for you, but we are sending flowers and leaves your way. Keep watching!!
