Pam, thanks for your comments on Dandridge. From what you've posted, I see that it needs to be on our list of places to consider: Smaller town atmosphere, clearer air, pretentious need not apply- Yeah, that's us.

And as far as talking about where you come from as being "home?" Heck, I'm embarassed to tell people I was born here. I always add in that I am only the 2nd generation of my family born outside of Tennessee!

FBama73,
I hope you find Dandridge just as I've described it. I said the air was breathable not clear. Another funny thing about Dandridge is that although it is a small town, size wise it is pretty spread out.The part of town near exit 412 off the interstate is more remote and the side of Dandridge where I'm living is more close to the village and I am close to exit 415 and 417 is the long way home. I am bringing this up because the day I realized just how spread out it was really surprised me. But no matter where I am in Dandridge it is all beautiful landscape.
Best of luck to all of you considering Dandridge,
Pam

We really loved the size of Dandridge and the close proximity to Knoxville. We are looking forward to our next house hunting trip. There are more homes on the market now than there were on our last visit so maybe we will get lucky this time!

Pam,
What is your opinion of the current housing market in Dandridge? Just curious.

Pam, I don't expect the air to be totally pure. I'm in Indianapolis, so it won't take much to be an improvement.

Mystic Fire- I'm sorry I somehow feel I've stolen your thread.

Tia999- I am not in real estate to know how the housing market currently really is. But from what we see there are plenty of homes on the market and there is new construction with a new sub division going in across from the entrance to the sub division where we are currently renting.
To us, Dandridge seems like an up and coming town, by no means is it dying and withering away. Hope that helps.
Pam

Mystic Fire, We now live in the Gaithersburg area. What part do you live in? I thought is was funny to see you were moving from MD and looking in Dandridge! It would be weird if we both end up moving there.

Pam,
Thanks for the info. We are working with an agent there, I just wanted to know what you thought of the market there. It is always nice to talk to someone who lives there.
