Hi guys!

My wife and I are going to be in Knoxville for six days in May (9-14) and need to book a hotel. I believe that may be near the time for graduation at UT and I want to make a hotel reservation now so I don't have to worry about them all being booked.

We are looking for a moderately priced place (100-200/night) and would like to stay in and experience the downtown area. Are there any suggestions?

I looked at TripAdvisor, but to be honest, all hotels (except for the really top end ones) look alike online so I was wondering if any had any personal recommendations. And I know in some cases, the reviews on TripAdvisor can be fake.

Also, restaurant recommendations would be nice!

Thanks!

Hi -

If you can play your cards right go with the Tennessean. Their prices vary widely by a couple of hundred dollars so it pays to shop prices but it is an amazing place.

Secondly I love The Oliver Hotel.

After that try Hyatt Place. Also a great choice!!!

Smart to try to book ahead. Spring Graduation is May 9-11.

Beretta

Another City-data person posted the same question and ended up staying at TownePlace Suites by Marriott Knoxville Cedar Bluff 205 Langley Pl, Knoxville, TN 37922. They are happy with it.

That's a decent enough place, but it's miles away from downtown.

Also, regarding restaurant recommendations, Rebel Kitchen in the Old City is the hottest spot in town right now. My friends are raving about it.

The new Embassy Suites as well as the dual branded Marriott should be open by that point, both in the center of downtown and brand new.

As for restaurants, I suggest Not Watson's, Elkmont Exchange, Balter Beerworks, and Copper Cellar

Thanks guys! Since I'm arriving during the UT graduation, all of the downtown hotels are pushing their rates up for that weekend. So, I decided to book a hotel outside the downtown area--the Courtyard by Marriott in Knoxville West/Bearden. We'll just have to drive to downtown to experience it.

Thanks for the restaurant recs!

When I stay somewhere I always choose to do a little driving to save good money as well. The drive downtown from there is not bad at all.
