Question Need info. on Friendsville,please!

I was looking into Friendsville because it's close to Maryville,knoxville.. I'm not finding out a whole lot of info. I did a search on CD and I'm hardly seeing anything. I did go to their website and it gives a little like the town/community doesn't have a sewer system, only has an elementary school, no middle or H.S. so my question is where do the the middle schoolers and highschoolers go? Also, is this a nice town to live? Any other helpful info. would be greatly appreciated.

I know some folks that live in Friendsville. The schools are zoned for Blount County and their son would go to William Blount High School (profiled elsewhere on this board). They had him enrolled in Maryville Christian (which could be a whole 'nuther thread on its' own) but ended up getting him in Maryville City and paying tuition.

Friendsville is very rural and very pretty for the most part. There are some lots/acreage in Friendsville that is actually on the lake. There really isn't much town to it; around here it is known as a wide place in the road. The people that live out there have known each other forever; and/or they know no one. I hope that makes sense. This is just my 2 cents from living right next to Friendsville and hearing co-workers talk about it. If you want to know something more specific I can ask at work.

It depends where you live in "Friendsville." The Friendsville zip code extends to as close as 3.5 miles from the end of the Knoxville airport's runway. I don't know if noise would be an issue, but it would be something to keep in mind. Google Earth gives a good view of it.

Just as a reference, there are kids that live in Friendsville that attend Eaton Elementary and North Middle. Not sure where the dividing line is for Loudon and Blount or if they are "cheating".

Default Friendsville

Actually driving home from Maryville yesterday, our friends there directed us to drive through Lenoir City to get back to I-40. I passed through Friendsville and remembered it because the name caught my eye. Very rural is correct, but beautiful area, just as Lenoir City seemed to be. It's almost "cheating" to have the mountains and such beautiful lakes so close. At this stage in life, I'm kinda rooted, but I was thinking driving through those areas that it's a shame there are so many beautiful little towns in the USA...and so little time.

Not sure what Friendsville BlueDog is talking about. Every time I have driven in and around Friendsville, it seems I am either the only one on the road, or see just a few others.

By no stretch of the imagination would I ever call Friendsville over-populated, so "EXTREMELY" is just way over the top. Rural is a more accurate description in my view.

Pretty nice area, but not for me because of the location. Just too far from my normal service area to make that drive every day.

TN farm boy is on a distinguished road
I live in Friendsville, TN. I was born here and I plan to die here. My great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather James Matthews, along with two other men, founded Friendsville. There isn't much to Friendsville. There's Keith's Barber shop and the Friendsville Market. There used to be a drug store but they tore it down. There is also a post office, a city hall, and about four churches. Friendsville has a volunteer Fire Department and no police department of our own. Occasionally there are some Blount County cops who drive through though. Friendsville school is only k-5 now. It used to be a k-12 (my dad graduated from there) and then it became k-8 (when i went there) and now its just k-5. Friendsville is only about a 15 minute drive from maryville, using Hwy 321. The Friendsville Friends Meetinghouse(Quaker Church) gave the town its name, and it is still open.

If you are just looking for a friendly small town you might want to avoid Friendsville. There have been a lot of yankees move here in the past few years, and they just don't understand how to be hospitible. There is also about to be an explosion of new businesses. Lenoir City is growing by leaps and bounds, and so is Maryville. Friendsville happens to be right between them. So far the only new business is a dollar general, but i've heard there is going to be a cvs right beside it. you have my word, 321 will be a busy, crowded street full of big stores within about 10 years.

What a cute name for a town, sort of like Lonesome Town (that old song by Ricky Nelson) .
