Default Morristown area?

My husband and I have been existing in Memphis but now it looks like we'll get to leave sooner than later!

He has worked here since June 2006. We left a wonderful area of Wisconsin when it was necessary for him to change jobs. We've also lived in MI, CA, AL and Germany. This experience in Memphis has been a negative one and I'm looking forward to moving!

We have an opportunity in the eastern part of Tennessee near Morristown/Knoxville area. Where we live in that region would be up to us.

I am hoping beyond hope that this will be better. We'd like a community with friendly people, the potential of actually making friends, fun things to do (we like to be outdoors, enjoy sports, music, playing cards, socializing with friends over drinks/dinner), decent grocery stores/shopping etc. Cleaner and safer would be wonderful too! I haven't been to the eastern part of the state yet but I hear that it is beautiful, I hope so!

Any input about this are would be greatly appreciated. Our kids are out of high school so schools will not be an issue for us.
