Thanks, Eat, but no thanks.
Attrition for my post? Whatever. Would you like sources from the newspaper? I don't have the paper copies but if you're so insistent that there's no problem, perhaps you'd like to foot the bill for the archived copies? Are you saying there aren't MAJOR problems with the Loudon County school facilities? And as you surely saw, I said, I like Loudon (I did buy property there, did I not?) but wouldn't move into that school district because of the school problem that would hit my son smack dab in his kindergarten year. No thank you. Why you gotta take offense so quick? And, depending on where OP winds up, I should think there might be closer options is ("gasp!") Loudon county as far as shopping and whatnot. For example, our property is 9 miles from Loudon center, 14 miles from Kingston center, and 25 miles from Rockwood center. Sorry if it offends, but I'm just repeating what I read. Are you saying it's not true? Instead of attacking me, how about extolling the charms of Loudon, heh? Oh, and incidentally, in your froth you missed the fact that I didn't mention Loudon until someone else did. And for that matter, why does it bother you if I HAD suggested Loudon? |

I just realized that you may be looking or planning to look at Kingston housing with an Oak Ridge Realtor, or worse yet, a Knoxville Realtor. We have quite a bit of experience looking for property all over the greater Knoxville area, and I am profoundly convinced that it is a mistake to look at property in any area with other than a local Realtor.
All the outlying counties are nuanced in some way. A buyer needs the advice of someone who understands this and knows the area and the builders. The Realtor should also be intimately familiar with the county officials and offices. He or she should also have a good working relationship with a local title company. DM if you would like the name of a decent Kingston agent. |

Eat I see that you have a considerable amount of subdividable land for sale in Loudon county. Good luck with that, sincerely. I hope karma comes your way and your land sells just as fast as it should for you.
Still, knowing that puts things in perspective for me. I understand completely why you wouldn't want anyone to think Loudon County has any problems with its schools. Perhaps the OP is looking for 27+ acres of subdividable Loudon County land? Maybe you'd mention that when she DM's you. You never know. I'm onto you, friend. I was feeling a little bad, that maybe you knew something I didn't know. But it's clear to me now, especially since you didn't even attempt to deny the problems that I mentioned. /rant off ___________________________ Back to Bebette and her search for Kingston info. ![]() |

It would be one thing if you pointed out some serious flaw and gave some hint as to where an interested reader could follow up on it. Instead you provided a torrent of "bad," including that fact that the air conditioners may have broken down during a record heat wave. That's a good indication that you have an agenda. Air conditioners break down during heat waves all over the country. It happens. They are mechanical devices. You then pile on with the "kids had to sit there" bit. What would have had the school district do? Should they have sent them home to no parents, because both spouses are out working? The very fact that you sought to include these rather mundane facts in your litany of school "problems" here tells me that you have some reason other than just providing solid into to the readers. |

My post is attributed to the newspaper, which I cited several times. Are you indeed stating that there are not major problems with the school facilities?
Once again, my property has a Loudon address; hence my need to clarify what schools my kid would go to. If I recall the children were indeed sent home on some occasions because of the heat. And if I'm not mistaken, some 50% of the a/c's were broken, many were very, very old units. _______________________________ I agree, it's off topic. Not your fault, WAR! Kingston, anyone? |

Gem, tri-cities, which is an amazing area (ask mbmouse!) includes Kingsport (not Kingston), Bristol, and Johnson City. Certainly worth looking into, Bebette, unless you're set on Knoxville area...
