Maraplus, looked it up and yeah, we'd be about 14 mi apart because of having to travel to cross the river--but as the crow flies it's only 3 or 4 miles--we could practically shout to one another! lol

We want to maximize work opportunities so wanted to stay on the north side of that river, simply because there's only a couple places to cross (crazy, right?).

Still waiting to hear from the TVA on whether or not we'll be able to use that land for lake access...

Yup, I'm almost ready to post links to the albums. Man, I hope I got all those locations right. If anyone finds any errors, feel free to let me know and I'll move the pictures!

Should be up in a half hour or so...

I'll get those pics up asap!
Thanks! I found the listing on Realtor.com, along with a couple others. I remember someone mentioning (not in a good way) one called 'Woodcutters Paradise'? Sounds good on the listing, but from what I recall, someone, perhaps you (?) saying it wasn't good. Looks kinda hilly to me. Hubby doesn't want to mow on the hills anymore, but if there's at least one acre flat to build on, then it's ok, as long as you can get to that flat area in a 4WD - which maybe a problem for some. Hubby can take care of the road into the property with his machinery, but we'll be putting up a modular, so the 18 wheelers need to be able to get into the property - so that takes out quite a few properties.

I mainly post on the main TN boards, hardly venture into this one, as we're primarily looking outside of Knoxville. I've been mainly looking around the Cookeville / Crossville 40 mile radius area. But have also looked east of Knoxville, up around Kyles Ford and Rogerville, which also has a few promising looking properties, as well as in the Greeneville area. The closer in to the cities, the more expensive the property. And as my hubby works in the road construction biz, it doesn't matter where we live, as long as we're in the hour and 1/2 drive of a major city. From what I hear, there's ALOT of road construction going on in the Knoxville area, too. So, the job outlook is good. Jobs for myself - well, I can work out of the home with Ebay, as I've been doing for almost 10 years and can supplement that with any type of office work, or dr's office. Or, I just may take a course in Medical Transcription, and do that out of the home.

blessings, Shen

Shen, look at my thread of pics from my trip (in the Knox forum) and you'll see some pics from Crossville, Cookeville, and several counties surrounding western Knoxville...including some of Woodcutters' Paradise (hilly is not the word for that place). Actually, there's a direct link to the Woodcutters' album I made up for that person, on that thread ("Harriman or Centerville?").

In my Roane/Kingston Album there's pics of the Charlie Brown Road site as well if you're interested!

Thanks! I'll check out the pics, and look up the thread on 'Woodcutters Paradise'.

We won't be going down until November, but I'm looking all the time. Seems some places are still for sale for quite awhile, with some reduced, and the rest with prices going up.

I've got a huge album of real estate listings, as well as job info, modular info, drivers license info, etc started. As well as info sent from different Chamber of Commerce, from different areas. By November, I expect it to expand quite a bit! LOL!

Thanks again!

blessings, Shen

Karen, In your Union County album, you've got pics at the tail end of a rural road. Was that of a particular piece or pieces of property? Some look too hilly, but others look ok.

I'm working my way down the list, and can' wait to see the Cookeville and Crossville pics!

Nice work!

Once in the album, if you're interested in the file name (most are just named by the location and a chronological number, but there are some that have relevant information in the file name), click on a picture and just look to the right and click on "more info". I believe this setting remains at least for the duration of that album.
