Don't forget the single best thing about Gatlinburg:
THE BYPASS!!!!!! Gatlinburg is cute, and I LOVE what it has done for the local economy. However, for me personally, if I'm in the area I'm either hiking in the park or wishing that I was. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge (to me) are great places to go eat after a nice day out on the mountains. Well, PF is also great for the nightly concert at the Gazebo outside the Ernest Tubb record shop, too. |

Speaking of a night time concert in PF, last summer we went to the Dick Clark theatre and saw a Tommy James concert. The stage was set up outside with the mountains as a backdrop, couldn't ask for a better view of the mountains. PF is a fun town to play tourist in.

I have been visiting tennessee and the last time i went, in feb with my daughter we had the pleasure of going through pigeon forge, and gatlinburg and finally the smokies...
wonderful. pigeon forge was a trip with all the little antique shops and arcades and neat unusual attractions. wow. we loved it. then to gatlinburg an upscale tourist attraction was really quaint and fun. and the smokies! how beautiful! we had quite an experience. it was pretty rainy and we were driving up the sightseeing road in the smokies and it all the sudden got windy and this white mist (ie; the smokies) came whipping across the road, like a mini hurricane. it was like a mini storm system that appeared right before our eyes! ya im from CA and havnt ever seen real weather in action so it was an experience! but nonetheless, it was very severe, so much that a sizable tree was down across the road, right at that spot, and the cars were having to turn around... i was pretty happpy to turn around as i would have been feared to go further! it was an adventure to be sure! amazing nature. so we really had fun there and would recommend it to any wanting a neat tennessee experience |
