Take a short trip outside of Knoxville along 11W to see some of the rural areas around here. Take I-40 to Rutledge Pike/Zoo Exit, if you can. Not sure if construction will cut off that route. If it does, you can take I-40 to 640 and when it reconnects to I-40, head back to Knoxville and pick up Rutledge Pike that way. Make sure you get off on 11W, NOT 11E and that you head East on 11W.
After a couple of miles of industrial stuff, you'll head through fields and farm country. Follow the signs to House Mountain for some great views and spectacular rock climbing.

If you continue on to Rutledge, you'll see a pretty town and the home of the Grainger County Tomato Festival, a fun event in July.
