Oh, sorry. I was referring to the tourist area. I never mentioned Seymour. That's completely different.

Knoxville. I relocated there for work. It's amazing. Surrounded by gorgeous scenery and polite people. I'm originally from Cleveland where if you cut someone off you might get shot. Not kidding. Knoxville was a shock to the senses. Wonderful!

I agree on Knoxville and surrounding areas, people are nice and so friendly, not what I'm used to coming from Florida, in Fl people dont give you the time of day or directions, here in TN they give you the directions and their phone numbers, lol, have had several people do that. I love it here, sure never want to go back to FL although sinus and allergies here are killing me(never had either before TN)

Wink Pollen in your eyes, up your nose and down your throat! Enough, already!

We feel exactly the same way about E. TN. I don't think you can go wrong living in just about any area (except maybe downtown Pigeon Forge or Gaitlinburg), but then again, some folks will love the traffic and constant happenings. To each his own.

The people in this area of the country feel like they are all your second cousins and you will never be at a loss for someone to pass the time with waiting in a line. I love that about the area.

Gailli, I think that this is an unusually bad year with the pollens in the air. Perhaps due to the drought last year and lots of rain this spring? I haven't suffered from allergies and asthma this much since we moved to N. GA 7 summers ago. It is the worst I have experienced. How about other hayfever victims?

Default Yes, its bad

Gemkeeper, my head is the worse, must be sinus. Took a pain pill but still didnt help, I sure hope this pollen doesnt last too much longer.

Yes, waiting in lines are fun, we go to the theaters and stand in the lobby and meet so many people, thats a good thing about Sevier Days as most of the people there are all locals on those nights so you meet a lot and find out a lot of things from other locals too.

This is a friendly place, sure hope allergies get better because I'm here to stay

I'm part of the puffy eye club. I wake up in the morning with them. My doctor says they call it allergy black eye. I guess you get use to it.

BLA BLA! il live in Dandridge. It borders Sevier County. I live right off of 139 and 66 (the main drag into Sevier, pigeon and gatlin). Its only about a 5 minute drive to Sevier, 7 to Pigeon and 20 to Gatlinburg EVEN on traffic days UNLESS there is a car show! LOL As long as you know how to drive you can get right around the tourists with ease. I can usually do 65 down the parkway in heavy traffic but thats only if I am running late. Otherwise its pretty calm. Groceries here in Sevier are GREAT! I mean they are all rediculous but the prices compared to others isnt bad. BETTER than Knoxville. Oh and we are only about 10 minutes from Downtown Knoxville or 15 if you drive normal. Dandridge is the smallest town in tennessee with not a lot to offer but like I said if you live on the outskirts there are two roads to take as shortcuts and one that cuts off about 25 minutes, Literally! The shotr cut off of the parkway is getting well known since you can see it from the road. Being from FL and near Fort Myers Beach.. I can tell you that you will NOT sit in traffic like you do there. Traffic here moves! I swear. My hubby and I are in our late 20's with 2 small ones and we are moving to Kodak or Sevier from Dandridge. I just dont like Dandridge's snotty **** dont stink attitude! Otherwise it's beautiful and small and close to EVERYTHING as well as Kodak. Its the same distance wise.

Been to Dandridge, its a nice quaint town but not sure it offers enough for me, Seymour is more to my liking but I have considered moving to Sevierville, it offers a lot and Walmart has same prices as anywhere else. Rent on Apts there are cheaper too and since they are building a new hospital it will offer even more. Not to mention for $25 you can buy a year pass on the trolley and then ride it and save gas not to mention let the trolley driver worry about the traffic.

Those of you saying the traffic isn't bad... do you drive it EVERY day? On a schedule, gotta be somewhere by some time?
