I just heard that NJ has the cheapest gas in the country, or one of the cheapest. I don't think it has anything to do with self-service being illegal. TN gas prices are slightly lower than the national average, but will never be as low as NJ. I think CA is the highest.

Wow, $3.29? It's pretty sad when that seems cheap to me. It's $3.55 here in MD.

This morning (Sat 4/26) it was $3.49 at the BP in Solway.

Uh-oh. Solway usually has the cheapest prices around.

The BP in Solway is always higher than the Raceway there. Go figure? I'll be going through there in an hour or so myself and plan on stopping at Raceway.

3.45 in Seymour/south Knox but it will rise again. Alcoa Hwy is usually 4-5 cents more than here.

I paid $3.499 (let's just call it $3.50) this a.m. in West Knoxville. Came back through a few hours later and it was $3.529 at the same place.
I read in the financial trades yesterday that regular unleaded is predicted to hit $5.50/gallon in 2009. IF that happens, gas prices will have doubled in less than two years and everything will cost way more, due to exorbitant transportation costs. Wages will stagnate, because companies will have to focus on containing costs to keep prices low enough to maintain demand. A supply/demand shift will not only threaten, but change, our way of life. We have serious problems in this country. I just had a painter tell me he'd have to charge me $50 more, because gas had gone up a quarter since he gave me his bid! |
