Speaking of Mercedes… I have a great story

Several years ago, my ex-husband and I purchased a little 2-seater M-Benz 450SL. We both LOVED driving that car! Many years later, we had an ugly divorce. We were in and out of court for 6-1/2 years. He did anything and everything to make my life miserable. He fought me in court to keep the Mercedes as part of his assets. I soon realized in a divorce, you have to pick your battles. Therefore, I let him have the car.

Last February, he passed away and the car was left in his Living Trust to our two children. Remembering how much I loved that car, they had it tuned-up, paid for a year of insurance and registered it in my name and gave it to me for Mother’s Day

When I am not in my Mercedes, you will find me off-roading in my Jeep.

I saw an Aston Martin Vantage at Blockbuster in Farragut Friday night. I think I saw the same Ferrari on Kingston Pike this weekend that a previous poster saw. A while back I saw a Bentley Flying Spur driving in front of the Regal Theater in Turkey Creek. Last night I saw a Range Rover Sport at Weigels.

Mercedes are a common car around West Knoxville.

There's a Mercedes dealership in Knoxville, for crying out loud. If there's such a stigma to driving around in Mercedes cars, then who's buying all those brand new Mercedes they're selling?

People drive Mercedes in north Knox County, too. My father drove his when he came to visit and did not report any strange looks.

It wouldn't surprise me to see a Mercedes with a deer carcass tied on the back.

My daughter visits from Fl and would bring any of her cars, lets see, she has a Bently, a Ferrari, a Jag Convertible, A Mercedes Convertible, a Viper, an Infinity,Ford Tungsten GT Limited Edition and now they just got their daughter an Escalade, they would drive any of them around here, in fact, they drive them everywhere.

I notice in the times we have been around Knoxville that luxury cars are not in abundance.

My large Merecedes sedan was purchased new in 1991 and still looks new in spite of the 197K miles it has on it due to the care it has received. I would like to keep driving it in Tennessee but don't want to feel awkward or out of place because of the car. Should I sell it and get something more modest?

Would appreciate any and all comments on this issue.

Thank you.
By all means, sell it! Then, take a grand and glorious step for purposes of conscience. Find the most environmentally friendly, economical, and small driveable vehicle that you can and buy it! Then relish the personal enrichment that comes from advancing the "greater good." Shalom.

I was sitting at a red light the other day in my 96 dodge pickup with all its dirt and dings and chipped paint when a new chevy king cab drove by. The 2 guys in the truck yelled at me "God what an Uuuuggggllllyyyy truck. LOL. Then they smiled and waved.

Oh, those are fighting words. You can make fun of a man, his clothes, his house, maybe even his wife . . but never make fun of a man's dog, his kids, or his truck.
