Smile Substitute Teachers

After searching the Knox County School Board website, it seems that the requirements for substitute teaching are a high school diploma (I do have some college) and the necessary background investigations. If anyone out there substitutes, could you tell me how many days during the school year one could expect to be needed?

My husband has five weeks of vacation a year, has three-day weekends, and I would really like the flexibility. I can't think of any other job that would allow me that freedom.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know about Knox County's policies, but if it works like all the school systems I'm familiar with (most of my family is in education), you can basically choose your own schedule. The teacher or school administration will call you off the 'list,' and you can tell them if you're available to come and work or not.

Of course, it might be that they call first the subs that have proven to be more available. Not sure about that.

usually for subs it works that they call you in the morning if you are needed and you say either yes i can or no i cant unless its a long term sub position.
