Well, I found three Topside Roads today. Guess how many tries it took me to get on the right one, going in the right direction? Needless to say, I went quite "a ways."

'Course all this was worsened by the lack of "redlights" (of any color) on Alcoa Highway and the average 95 MPH traffic flow ensuing from this inexplicable lack. I felt like I was back in L.A. for the first time in months.

GBH, that is a funny observation about Alcoa Highway! DH and I think the same thing everytime we drive from Maryville area to Knoxville on it.

You're fine going with the flow as long as no one has to pull off for gas and then expect to ease back onto the highway. Then, you might want to get a running head start on the berm - and just burst into the flow!

tn_dreamin' is on a distinguished road
I felt the same way about alcoa when we visited, if you aren't doing 90 you feel like you're gonna get flattened. I guess there's no way to enforce the speed limit? Maybe by radar? That highway made me nervous so I just hope when we move there that we live somewhere that I don't have to go on alcoa everyday.
