Default Lincoln Park/less busy areas of Knoxville area

Please tell me is Lincoln Park a decent area? Also Farris and Vance subdivion? Cold Springs? Lake Springs? We like Knoxville but don't know which areas are better than others. We are looking for Knoxville or outside of Knoxville, where there is still some country atmosphere, but might consider buying in certain areas that are not really country. Of course I know these are not in the country but wondered how far from city, etc. Thanks for any help!

Lincoln Park is right in the middle of the city, just a few miles north of downtown. It's a nice neighborhood, definitely nothing fancy and very blue collar. It's got a couple of busy railroad tracks that run through the neighborhood. I live near there and love it, but then again I like living in the middle of cities and don't mind noise from trains, ambulances (Saint Mary's Hospital is nearby) and fire trucks.

Thanks.....too close to the city for us (especially country boy DH!), but we saw the cutest house there! I could handle rr tracks fairly close in the country, though.

Lincoln Park is definitely the city. It consists of lovely, mostly modest older homes. It is not a subdivision in the modern sense, though it would be considered the suburbs back in the day. It is now considered a city neighborhood.

St. Mary's hospital is in this area, but it will be closed in a few years and it's fate is undetermined.

Oh sorry! I took too long to hit the send button!

I guess if it has a name for the neighborhood I call it a subdivision! Sorry!
