We buy milk at Wiegels.
I'd like to know why Mayfield Dairy thinks they are so special. Their prices are ridiculous.
Back home, it was Roberts Dairy, product was better and cheaper.
Oh, as for groceries, I'm starting my campaign to try to get HyVee to expand to Knoxville this summer. I'd drive 2 hours to go to HyVee.
Organic vs. Regular?

i agree with the milk prices being up there. my wife and i have two toddlers and we go through a gallon of milk every two days so it is a big part of our budget. groceries are a little more expensive here than other places i have lived but here there is no state tax so you have to pay sales tax on food. makes a big difference. personally we are used to aldi's and we occasionally drive the hour and half to corbin to save a few bucks on groceries

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought I was the only person that didn't "get" Mayfields! I buy Weigel's milk for my kids and they like it just fine. I think Mayfields is good, don't get me wrong, but I couldn't account for the $$ difference.
Does Weigel's still have their own dairy farm or do they buy their milk from Mayfield or another source?

I'm not a health nut, but I'm not so sure milk is terribly healthy (ditto for cheese).
Granted, it tastes great.
Apparently, there was some governmental manipulation to get the "dairy group" included as a fourth distinct food group. Dairy is entirely unnecessary on it's own, and should have been included in the meat group... but the diary industry can get their "milk" included in school lunches by pressing to get it as it's own food group.
I have been on Soy Milk for quite some time. I don't drink soy milk...or any milk... straight out of the glass, though. In cereal, I can barely tell the difference between real milk and not.
The advantages of soy milk is that it is both environmentally better and healthy.
Speaking of prices... the coffee I paid $6 for two weeks ago was over $10 on my last grocery trip! I've never seen it anywhere near that price.

Everything in moderation. Milk is about the only digestible source of vitamin D, which is better absorbed through the skin from sunlight. (Does that have something to do with anything. )
The point is that any food in moderation has its place in one's diet. I personally am allergic to soy, so soy milk is definitely out, but many people do like it.
I don't like to buy milk in a colored container. I want to see my milk before and after purchasing. I want to be able to see that the contents are white and how much is left, I guess. I don't like Mayfield's bottles, so don't buy it. Good reason?

I don't blame you. The Yellow jugs are just "weird".
Yes, the farmer's market starts on Thursday.
As for the health benefits of Milk, I'll do my research and report back.
It's far better for people (skim) than fruit juice, imo.
I miss my Robert's cottage cheese, but found some at Kroger that fits ok.
I actually wrote HyVee begging them to join the fray in the TN market today.

Women especially need to be careful eating or drinking any soy product due to hormone levels.
I am lactose intolerant and really don't drink milk but do keep Lactaid on hand. Now THAT is an expensive grocery!

I'm not lactose intolerant, per se, but the smell and taste of milk nearly makes me physically ill. No idea why... needless to say, I don't drink it. Was raised on a dairy, too, which makes it ironic, to boot.
