grocery prices??????????
I was wondering about food prices. I was told a gallon of milk was running a little over 5 dollars. ( 2.99 here, organic is only 4.99) Can you get organic in the bigger grocery stores? I will be renting a place in Tallassee. Top of the world. My daughter will be going to Walland Elem. I like the fact it's a lot smaller school than she is at now. Her's now is K-4 600 students was told Walland is K-5 300 studnts. Lot better number. Well thanks in advace for the info. OH one more thing can and where can you buy Canidae dog food? Thanks Kari

not sure what you mean by food prices, talking about costing more here? Some things do, others don't, as far as organic is concerned, you can find it here just as easily as any other place, not sure what the hype is over organic anyway.
There is a sales tax, but at least no income tax which is the great bonus in TN depending on which side of the debate you are on.
As far as the school goes, I would care more about the student teacher ratio before I cared about overall attendance.

Can I ask why you are renting at Top of the World? Have you been there?

Well as far as the school. When it is so large the student teacher is high.(1:32) I have not been to the house, my husband has. I was told at one time it was a rough place. Now it is better. Was told they have security. Was also told the lake is beautiful.

Hope that this helps.
Kksparks, you can find your organic dog food at several places in Knoxville. I will DM the stores to you.
Are you saying the the student to teacher ratio at Walland Elementary is 1:32? That is pretty high. That means that some classes are smaller, but some are LARGER! What grade is she is in this year? Have you visited the area at all, or just your husband? I hope you have the opportunity to see the Knoxville area before making your move.

No i was saying the school she is in now has a ratio of 1:32. I seen some of TN. My daughter will be in 4th grade. I have been to Knoxville. We love the mountians.(my husband was born in tn) We now live on a farm in the counrty. So we want to stay out of the city. The place is suppose to very nice.(i hate not seeing for my self) The only downfall I can tell is that we will be WAY WAY up on the top of a mountian. WI has no mts. or curvy roads. But it has a lake. We will need it to stay cool. Not sure if I can handle the heat. LOL

We get half-gallons of organic milk at Kroger for $3. Organic sure lasts a lot longer. Kroger has a great organic section (great for this area) and I like how it's in its own section of the store, not mixed in with everything else and hard to find.

I think that most people who drink organic milk like the taste better. The cows are on a different diet without all of the additives, so that is bound to have an effect on the taste.
And, it is sooo good for you. It must be a nationwide Kroger staple, NJdevil. We have it here at our local Krogers; good to know that I will be able to get it in Knoxville.

Ingles has a pretty decent organic section here as well. I want to say their organic milk is 5.39 a gallon. I can't comment on the milk lasting longer, milk NEVER sticks around more than a few days at my house. I think I need a cow.....
