Yes, 321 or by some back roads (go the Dragon and cut over, etc.). I disagree that it is a tough route. We go at least every other week during good weather months. The Smokies cover a lot of acreage and reaching them is quite quick from a lot of different locations.

SouthernNomad is on a distinguished road
I'm not brave enough to try the dragon, but yeah, I can get from my house to Cades Cove in around half an hour. We go through Townsend -- I'm terrible with road names, but I'm pretty sure that's 321. It doesn't feel like a tough route to me at all, and I'm from the MS Delta, so mountain roads freak me out!

If you are on Lamar Alexander Parkway in front of Blount Memorial Hospital, and then pass by the Drive In Movie Theater and then down through Townsend then it is 321.

What part of M'ville are you in?
