Considering relocating from VA
Considering moving to the area depending on employment with the county schools (Spanish teacher). Would like info on which are considered the best high schools there and decent, safe areas to live. Have heard that Farragut is a good school - ideas on other high schools? Also would like info on small houses/townhouses in area between 115-130K or so. Thanks!

Hi profesora...I can not actually answer your questions but I can tell you where you can look for alot of info on the schools. Use the search button on the main paige and put in the word schools. It will bring up all post about the schools in that forum. You can do the same thing on each area you are considering. I know there are alot of post about schools, because I have read many of them. And alot of times people will put links in their answers which will help you further. The people on here are very helpful and will try to answer your questions. Be patient though, because there are alot of people asking questions. They will get to yours, but it might take a little bit of time. I hope this helps.

I'm glad I could help a little. I'm still new here too. I have read alot of past threads so I do know the info is out there and the search key has helped me locate alot of what I was looking for. You can use it for housing info also, there are alot of questions about housing on here. I know there are links in many of those replies as well. Unfortunatly, I don't actually know what those links are. You may also want to try realtors.com to get an idea of what is available. And, I know that the local newspapers have online sites where you can access what& where& how much homes are.

I'm not really sure which paper will be most helpful to you. I think Knoxville, but I listed the others just in case. If none of those are what you need, you might want to do a google search for "whatevertown,TN newspaper" and it should come up for you.
The other folks on here will be able to help you much more than I can.

West Knox Vs North Knox
Hi Profesora,
I am a realtor and I think it depends on what you are looking for as far as lifestyle and the area you want to reside in. I have heard good things about Anderson County school systems and Anderson County High. It is in Clinton TN (Considered to be North Knoxville - just 20 minutes from Knoxville). Clinton has less traffic and runs at a slower pace than West Knox/Farragut area, yet still close enough to drive to Knoxville easily. Also if you like outdoor activities, Clinton is only 15 minutes to two great state parks and the beauty and splendor of Norris Lake. Housing in the North Knox/Clinton area is less expensive also. Best wishes to you on your decison to relocate to this area.

I was born and raised in Sneedville. Schools were wonderful, and I loved going to school. Strangly enough, I still remember all the history and geography I learned in 5th and 6th grade. We left there when I was in 7th grade. I have a Masters from Hopkins, and I consider Sneedville with warm feelings. Its a great location, and better if you have income each month, rather than having to work all the time. We had lots of land, and daddy went to Kingsport to work when we lived there. My daddy built many of the stores in town, the high school, and many homes in Sneedville. He was a "Trent". We came to DC and Baltimore and have been here for 50 years.

Hey profesora, congrats on your possible move, and for checking out the schools, go to kgis.org, and Farragut is good, and also the New Hardin Valley Academy. Housing in that price range, will put you in about a 1200 to 1400 sf home, pending how much tlc you want to give. We been showing lots of shortsales, and foreclosures, so several good ones to choose from. Good luck.
