We are looking at land to build. We understand it is rural and you need to go 30 miles to shop. Anything else good to know, pros and cons. Thank you

Have a survey done on any potential land purchases. You are going to need septic, propane, at a minimum. and will need to evaluate the granite content (cost to remove/destroy in order to build) and the subsequent level of released radon. I'm sure others have other things to look out for.

You’re east of the Mississippi River, I’m unaware of any area that is 30 minutes from a wal mart. TN isn’t that rural

What is the particular attraction to Rutledge? It's a very small city. There are many, many very small cities in TN. If you can let us know why you've singled out this particular area, then we may know how to help you or help you find another city that might be to your liking?

My girlfriend's aunt and uncle have a lake home with a Rutledge address in a gated community on Cherokee Lake - all million dollar homes.

I don't understand the appeal of the area, at all. I live in Bristol. The easiest way down there, for me, is to take the interstate to Morristown, then go up to 25 E, then to turn left on 375 toward the lake developments.

From her house, Morristown is about thirty minutes away on 375 (two lane winding road) until you get back to 25E. Jefferson City is a little closer, but smaller, and has less. Anything outside of Walmart, Food City, and maybe something like Lowe's/Home Depot, and a few better restaurants in Morristown, is a drive back to Knoxville.

If it's not thirty minutes from her place to a Walmart, it isn't much less. 375 snakes around a long lake, and there are basically no services along that road.

375 snakes? Do you mean curves in the road?

We live in Chuckey now and found a home in Rutledge that we like. We prefer to be closer to Knoxville.

The road snakes, winding back and forth, not creepy crawly snakes.
