Hello everyone,

Just moved to east side of Oak Ridge and I'm getting a boat. Plan to buy a pontoon boat or something relaxing just for cruising around the water. The closest put-in seems to be at Melton Lake Park near where the crew teams practice. I'd like to cruise my family and friends down to Knoxville, but just looking at the map, it looks like a long haul. Are the waterways clear? I do not know anything about the area or the rivers/lakes here. I do have salt water boating experience, but am unfamiliar with eastern TN. If there is anything you can think of to tell a new boater here in eastern TN, I'd love the advice. Thanks!

As you see you would have to boat all the way past Kingston then back up through the locks on the fort Loudon dam.
