If the one at East Town is going to be a clearance center I might actually find prices that I can live with. Do you know if they are opening a new one somewhere else. |

West Town has a Dillard's, so I doubt they'd be opening another in the metro.

Oh darn...Dillard's and their overpriced clothes are leaving. I'm bummed.
I've never been to West Town Mall. Pulled through the parking lot once. It reminded me of Johnson County, KS. No thank you. I don't get the bias against East Town Mall. It's decent, and safe, and not overrun by people. |

I can tell you that nearly every check taken in his store there was bad and they were broken into numerous times, both as a kiosk and as an inline store. Once by a mall employee.
Most of the stores are geared to urban teens and those slightly older. In the past few years, Eddie Bauer, Circuit City, Ruby Tuesday, Old Navy (soon), Bombay Co, Dollar Tree... and smaller retailers have pulled out. Yeah, CC and ON just went around the corner, but they LEFT the mall. Look at the smaller store slots, those that HAVE retailers in there don't usually keep them. When mall management markets to a particular strain of customers, they're going to lose the rest. Those that think it's a *safe* mall... walk in via the movie theater doors on a Saturday night and see how comfortable you and your family feel. No, it's nothing compared to bigger cities, but then, nothing else in Knoxville compares either. |

Well, I'm in bed at 8 p.m. on Saturdays. However, I am at the mall during daylight hours, including Saturdays, and I have never seen anything bizarre. A lot of nice shoppers.
I'll tell you something about bad checks. Lately, I have experienced a lot of bad checks and they are being written out in the suburbs. Malls, and specialty stores are going under all over this country. East Town is no exception. Turkey Creek as just has as many closings. |

That does not count the pre-foreclosures, bankruptcies, etc. I've looked at two foreclosures. They were horrible. I want to know what happened to the people. Are they okay? I cried through my first offer. In the long run, I don't have the stomach for it. I'll just buy a house, but heaven help me, I don't want to take advantage of ANYONE. I waited so long for this, but I understand when someone makes a mistake. It's horrible. I hope this mall survives. |

I feel ya, hiknapster. My husband's company just bought him a company car (thank God, his truck was using almost 200 a week in fuel, just for his drive to and from work!) at the repo auction. It's just an 07 and there was a bit of loose dog food in the trunk and the marks from two car seats in the backseat. I wondered about that family too- and felt sad for them, wherever they are.
