Default Maryville/Auction

I cant mention the name I dont think but there is an auction in Maryville on Sat nights. We went last night and could not believe the antiques and the Ethan Allen furniture they had and the low prices it all went for.

If you want something to do on Sat night I highly recommend you go, you will have a lot of fun and maybe pick up some great buys in the process.

There are a lot of good auctions around here. They sell local estates and many bring in haulers from around the country. I've picked up some great bargains.
I love auctions. Still have some nice pieces I picked up cheap in Washington, D.C. a whole lot of years ago.
Some websites:
Terry's is the one in Maryville. I don't get down there unless there's something I'm after.
Upcoming Auction Information
Lake City is my favorite. Those are usually every other Monday night with a couple of big auctions a year. Lots of nice primitives. Always a lot of fun.
Lake City Auction Gallery
Page in Crossville is a good one. They're likely to have almost anything on Saturdays. Big place, interesting crowd.
Page Auction
Darrell's is up in the mountains, pretty drive, have some interesting stuff. Good prices.
DARRELL'S AUCTION
Lebanon, TN, I don't get there unless there's several things I really want. Almost to Nashville although they do others on location.
Premier Auction Service - Lebanon, TN
Chattanooga Auction House. High class but some real bargains. Have a great buffet with wine.
The Chattanooga Auction House
Kimball Sterling in Johnson City. Interesting auctions. Get some high class stuff, cane collections, outsider art but also some old homesteads and barns with generations of stuff.
Welcome To Kimball Sterling, Inc. - Auctioneer and Appraiser - Outsider, Fine Art, Antiques, Estates
Always glad to have more folks at auctions!
There's also Halls Auction on Fridays in Maryville, but they don't have a website. Check the Knox News site for listings. I've never found anything I like there.
There's also Buttermilk Road Auction in Lenoir City. They have some nice things but I felt the prices were much too high. The antique shop there is quite nice though. Had some art deco stuff.

I second Darrells for the closest you can get a weekly auction to a good old fashioned farm auction. I'd forgotten about it. If my health holds up and the humidity cooperates, I may try to make the next one.

This caught my attention!!! Love auctions, I've notated them and added to my list of things to do when we move up in a couple months. Now what about the flea markets???? I was told there is a big one somewhere possibly N.E. of Knoxville??? Do you think we could get together for a junk tour???

I'm not a flea market fan although there are some big ones around that I plan to get to one of these days.
There's one in Sweetwater just of I-75 -- that's South of Knoxville right off I-40.
Sweetwater Flea Market - Home
There's another one at the exit to the Smoky Mountains off I-40.
True yard sale/flea market fans hit the World's Largest Yard Sale on route 127.
127sale
Runs from Ohio to Alabama along some real pretty country roads. The closest it comes to Knoxville is Crossville. HGTV has done a couple of shows on it.
It's in August. It's fun but really hot.
There's also Antique Alley that runs from Bristol, TN/VA, to Mississippi on Highway 11. That runs through Knoxville.

You can have a lot of fun looking for things and meet some very interesting people.

I refer to the Smoky Mountain Craft Fair as the Smoky Mountain CRAP Fair or Asian Fair, depending on mood. No disrespect intended, but we've been a couple times in the past year or so, after a few years break.. I was surprised by the number of booths that were all the same- hundreds of boxes full of cheap products, new in package, for only a few bucks run by these oriental men. Don't get me wrong, I buy some stuff from them, but that's not what a real flea market should be. Also have lots of people selling junk as antiques because they figure the tourons won't know the difference and will pay big bucks for it.

There's one at 1-81 exit 8 in Morristown that's pretty good. Pretty high hispanic population and they have the most WONDERFUL smelling food carts there. I always forget and eat before we go and then walk around drooling! They've also brought a diversity to the fresh fruit/vegetable vendors there- mas different things available. This is a regular flea market.... you can buy food, used pots and pans to cook it in, a dog and a used dog house for him, lol! Some bunnies and chicks too.

There's one in Jonesboro that I adore... I go up through Greeneville to get there. Lots of critters there, flowers, plants, fresh food, just stuff, farm things... my favorite by far, just a loooong way to go with fuel so high.
