Also, like BBKaren mentioned, you of course need your TN license for a gun purchase but this is true for all states. Also, you can't physically go to another state and purchase a firearm from a dealer if you are not a resident of that state. But as I was saying, having it shipped to you(your FFL) is legal. Oh yeah, you only save tax $$ if you buy out of state. If you buy from a TN dealer say in memphis and have it sent to knoxville, you still pay tax. So try and find good deals online that are based out of state.

So why would Guns-N-More be willing to do this? Do I pay them?

I've seen a lot of guns sold at estate auctions and such. I have no idea what the requirements are for buying that way.
This place seems to have a lot of gun auctions:
Details on upcoming Absolute Auctions | Call 865-774-5338 (http://www.thompsoncarr.com/auction_detail.php?auction_id=206&location=up&page =1&records=10 - broken link)
I've seen crossbows and rifles sold at Page's Saturday's auctions. Again, I never bought one so don't know if they're required to show ID etc. when they pay for them.
Page Auction
Page often has a lot of outdoor stuff come up. They get a lot of the estates out of Fairfield Glade senior community. Life time collections that the kids don't want.

There are some good shooting clubs and such around the area. Many of the members trade with each other.

I don't think much of the area gun shows.

An FFL here in NJ charges...I think it's $35 or $40, something like that.

It's just someone who makes sure the gun doesn't pass hands without a paper trail.

It's actually neat, because this way you can buy from anyone, anywhere; they just ship to your FFL and you pick it up there. No sweat.

Our FFL is the local Tru Value Hardware store. The gunbroker site has a list of FFL's by state.
Good luck!

Default gun shows

There are also periodic gun shows at the I-75 expo center off Merchant's Road in north Knoxville.

You used to be able to get into the Chilhowee Park show (Mike Holloway's) free if you agree to join the NRA onsite.

NRA membership is current $25.00 a year so there is no savings but it's a great organization to belong to; I'm a life member.

Yeah, I forgot, I think the NRA deal was similar at the show we went to in April as well. I'm pretty sure it was at the Expo Center as well (it looks like it used to be a supermarket?) but we're already members too.

My husband is a lifetime NRA member as well. He said that he likes the gun shows at the EXPO center fairly well.
