Knox GUN SHOWS???
I haven't been to any of the gun shows around here.
I know Chilhowee park has them often... and there is one this weekend.
Does anyone know if this is any better than just going to a gun shop?
As I remember, I bought a gun in the early 90's at a gun show and then found that it was the same price at the gun shop!...and I had to PAY to enter the show!
Is that how it is? Or should I expect better prices at the show?
Sorry about this subject for all you anti-gun folks.

We got a KILLER deal at a couple of pawn shops; they always have guns. Only thing is, they won't sell to anyone without a TN driver's license.
So we brought our buddy who bought them. Problem solved.
I cannot wait to live somewhere besides this godforsaken state.
And I doubt you'll see too many anti-gun people in the south, generally.

As one poster noted, the south is pretty much a "right ot bear arms" area. A gun show might offer you more flexibility in negotiating price as opposed to a gun shop, and it probably would offer more buying options, as far as selection goes, either through the show itself or possibly through contacts you might make at the show.

Incidentally, we attended the gun show in Knoxville and after paying $16 to get in found nothing in terms of the kind of "bargains" you'd expect.
Like Ebay, it looks like gun shows are now inhabited mostly by retailers who will give you a slight deal, but not that much.
Also, try gunbroker.com. It's ebay for our ilk!

bbkaren,
So are you trying to get out of Jersey?... or Tennessee?
Thanks for the tips, though.
I'll try a pawn shop and gun shop. $16 bucks for entrance is crazy.

To be fair, I think it was $8 for each of us...but we found no bargains.
Trying to get out of NJ. The gun laws here are absurd.

My experience at the knoxville gun shows is that they are mainly local gun shops with a few out of town dealers as well. They charge 10 or 15 dollars admission...food is expensive..and they don't have any good deals...imagine all these shocking things. Seriously, if you looking for a good deal, find an individual who has something you're looking for and negotiate (on Sunday you may get it cheaper out of desperation) or do what i do...buy off the internet. Like most everything else, its alot cheaper. (i'm getting off topic kinda) It may take you a couple days more to get what you want but you save big time $$$, both in generally always cheaper price and taxes (is this legal...yes it is). I've actually had a local gun shop tell me it was illegal to not pay the taxes only because they wouldn't match the price of an online dealer and were p*ssed. Isn't a gun like any other good you buy off the internet...yes. Soo...find the gun you want online, pay, send them your FFA (i use guns and more downtown..they cheapest i've found), they ship it to your FFA (guns and more), you go pick it up and pay $15 (now i think) background check plus $20 transfer fee and its yours. I know though some people like to buy local..not me, i'm lookin for the deal. Just my 2 cents.

Reading the instructions on Gunbroker.com, I see that I have to know an "FFL" holder to receive the gun for me.
so is that what you do when ordering online?
Maybe the local classified would be easier.
I'm not seeing guns on craigslist.

Your FFL is any licensed gun dealer. As i mentioned, Guns-N-More in downtown Knoxville is one of those licensed FFL. When you purchase a gun on the internet(i mean i either buy from gunbroker or find a good price and call them), that dealer will ask you for your payment info and who your FFL is. In this case you tell them Guns-N-More. They say ok. Then you call guns and more and tell them to fax a copy of their FFL to the dealer you are buying it from. Of course they will need the fax #. That takes maybe 30 secords. When the dealer you bought it from receives the fax only then will they ship it.
