Hey jmt, maybe the reason you have more boneheads from Farragut, is that more are in school, than from the other sytems. I have to agree with thattnguy, and why you feel you have to bash that area. I have lived west all my adult life, and find just as many great folks, living in Farragut, just as there are in all parts, but for some reason, there is a stigma placed on west knoxville. Just because the median income is higher, according to our data stats, thats no reason to always pick on folks from Farragut. I trust your not too hard on our guys and gals and hope you can rise to the challenge of making them fit into our society and outgrow the bonehead status.

Oh come on, Bob. I have never ever said that everyone in Farragut is a snob or that the only snobs in Knox County live in Farragut. Nor have I ever said that the only bonehead students I've ever had were from Farragut. I don't hide the fact that I dislike suburbs, but I have actually recommended Farragut/West Knox occasionally to people in this forum.
The point I have tried to make is that Farragut is NOT the only good high school in Knox County, and there are plenty of other very nice areas of Knox County that are worth considering. So get used to it; anytime someone comes on here and announces that the only good high school in Knox County is Farragut, I'll chime in and slap us all back to reality.
By the way, how's this for irony: you've accused me of making unfair and sweeping generalizations of Farragut, yet you've made unfair and sweeping generalizations of me based on a couple of posts out of 3,000+ that I've made. Funny, huh?

Either you pay much closer attention than I do, or you're beginning to sound like a broken record. I realize that Farragut often comes up when people ask about the area, but how many times has somebody flat-out said that it's the ONLY good high school in Knox County? I have honestly never seen anything of the sort on this forum. Feel free to prove me wrong.

Since your job is in West Knox, I agree with Bearden HS.

Yes, yes you do.

There is a stigma placed on west Knoxville?
First I heard of it.
We get a lot of folks on this forum that say, "My real estate agent, (or friends, future coworkers, etc.), say that west Knoxville is the best place to live."
Sometimes, us fine folks that live in the other parts of Knoxville and Knox County like to chime in with our opinions.
Personally, I like to live in an area that is not overpriced and not have to fight traffic, look at shopping plaza after shopping plaza, and avoid the rudeness of a, say, Florida. If it reminds me of Florida I'm not going to move there. Period.
I like my real estate agent because she helped me explore ALL areas of the city and county.

The more, the merrier. That's why people come here for information - they want a broad range of opinions. But, as I'm sure you know, when there are so many people living in the same general area, opinions are bound to differ, which is fine. I don't think anybody would be better off in a world where we all wanted to live in the same kind of location. JMT doesn't really like Farragut, and I'm merely trying to provide a different perspective since I actually live there and went to school there.

Farragut's traffic isn't really that bad, but you do have to be aware of where you're going. If school is getting out, that area of town might be busy, or if you're looking to drive through Turkey Creek on Saturday, be prepared to find many other people doing the exact same thing. Overall, I've seen much, much worse.
I've heard the claims about rudeness before - I disagree completely. It's one of many stereotypes about the area that I take with a big grain of salt.

I should have been more specific. I've only been to Turkey Creek, which I enjoy, and I've never been to Farragut.
The thread's title is West Knoxville and I was referring to that area.

Well, Farragut is certainly part of West Knoxville, but there are a lot of areas that can be designated "west" Knoxville.
Sorry for the misunderstanding - I shouldn't assume things before I speak.

Technically speaking, no, Farragut is not part of West Knoxville since Farragut is its own city, created in 1980 specifically so it would NOT be part of Knoxville. It's part of West Knox County, however, and it borders Knoxville.

Right, Knoxville getting the last laugh and all. Thanks for reminding me.
But, in the end, it's basically in the western part of Knoxville (geographically speaking), and when I'm driving towards downtown, I never think to myself, "Alright, I'm exiting Farragut and entering Knoxville." Maybe it's just me, but that's how my mind works - it's all part of a bigger whole. It could be because I don't technically live in the town of Farragut, but who knows.
