The Ultimate Must-SEE / Must-DO Knoxville Area list!
So - maybe not the ultimate - but it'll hopefully grab some folks attention.
I know that people post events as they come up, but I've been having a difficult time just knowing what events occur in Knoxville in general, and finding regular year-round things to do in one easy & convenient place. I've checked into some of the Knoxville city website for touristy type info, but in addition I'm looking for insider tips on what locals like to do for fun!
Will folks please post your top however many must-see/must-do's?
Anything counts: from visit a certain restaurant, to viewing a sunset at X location, to catching a concert. If you do it for fun - or think it's a Must-SEE/Must-DO - please list it!
Admittedly, I'm stealing your ideas for fun & leisure - but I need help! LOL.

When we lived in Knoxville, we used to like going over to Baker Peters jazz club. Many times the band was set up on the porch outside, so if there was a breeze, it was a great place to spend a few hours.
Our favotite restaurants that we always went to weekly, also on the West side. PF Changs and Macoroni Grill. In East town we'd hit Don Pablo for a friday night happy hour of Margaritas or Texas Roadhouse.
Enjoy doing whatever people list.
Pam

Oodles Uncorked on Market Square has a great wine list. Outside seating only after the sun drops, though. It gets hot on the patio in direct sunlight.

Hey indychic, tons of favorites all depending on your choices. Every holiday, sponsors do a Rockin on the River, and it has tons of boaters, and finish the evening with good fireworks, and you can also attend by land, going to the Lenior City parks, and Calhouns. Sundown in the city , runs each thurs for most of the summer, if you like good bands, and large crowds. The downtown offeres first Fridays, as art stores sponsors many exhibits, and free wine and cheese. All the dowtown has several pubs, and good eating places. Many sports bars, for billiards, and places to play card, and west has the New Turkey Creek, with a bunch of nice resturants, and several other places around Knoxville. Bakers Peters does have great bands, and great food. Good luck, and write if you are looking for anything in particular.

Sundown in the City. ( Sundown in the City - Knoxville, TN ) Basically a huge block party, quite fitting for the party city. (No - this isn't a new term! I'm not recoining the couch! )
Oodles Uncorked, is that Oodles of Noodles?

Let's get to know your new neighborhood. It's going to be mine, too, in less than two weeks!
Visit Litton's. It's an honest-to-goodness local restaurant with great burgers. I love their chicken salad. It will give you a great feel for the locals.
It also happens to be down Cedar Lane, take a left onto Broadway and a right onto Essary.
ATTENTION LOCALS! This is a NEW website. It is fantastic. Please check it out!

If you haven't yet, check out the duck pond and park at the corner of Broadway and Hotel. The Fountain City Art Center is there. I plan to check that out soon.

Across from the park on Hotel is a lovely little bistro called "The Creamery." Grab some wonderful ice cream, sit at one of the tables in front, and enjoy the comings and goings. I recommend the layered salad (I think that's what it is called).

Lastly, if you really want to know what is going on, as well as keeping up with a fresh take on local politics, The Metro Pulse is a must!

We are going to be neighbors! That's so awesome. I hope you absolutely love your new house. You were a big help on my other forum, and I feel much better about the move now.
I love the replies that I've been getting on this forum, and I hope they are helping others as well. It's a great town - and I can't wait to dive right in! We're park/BBQ people...so I'll definitely be checking out the duck pond area for that. I also can't wait to try ALL these local owned restaurants and entertainment suggestsions.
The MORE the MERRIER folks! Keep 'em coming!

I'm going to echo everything hiknapster said. I hope you love Fountain City as much as we do.
The park behind the art center is one of the nicest parks I've ever seen. It's beautiful and has really cool playground equipment that I wish existed when I was a kid. Yesterday there was a guy in the park playing his guitar just for the heck of it. I don't know if he was doing it as some official program or not, but it was still nice.
Here are some pics of the art center and the park adjacent to it. I know I've posted these a gazillion times before, but I'm bored today and have nothing else to do.
And the Creamery which is right across the street from the park and art center:
One thing hik forgot to mention is the Fountain City Battle of the Red Velvet Cake. Litton's and the Creamery both have divine red velvet cake. And actually I'm going to add Rita's Bakery which is located on Jacksboro Pike in Fountain City. I had their red velvet cake last week, and son of a gun I can't decide now whose is better. I think we need a newcomer's point of view. I hope you don't mind helping us figure out which is the best.
