Default Garbage Collection

I'm on the city website. Where do I find pick-up times?

Call 311 for City Services and ask for your pickup day. Or call Waste Connections at 522-0078-- the City contracts with them. You can schedule an extra pickup for all your moving boxes, etc.

And not only that, but they'll also pick up all your yard debris as long as you pile it up next to the street. Even your leaves after you rake them this fall. To me that's worth the extra $35/month in property taxes I pay to live in the city!

I think I pay about $58 extra. Considering that my insurance may be lower, too, it should be worth it. It is also closer to jobs, so the gas savings is great.

Speaking of taxes. The sellers of this house owe two years of back city and county taxes! I hope I don't get stuck with that? My agent says no, but still...

Taxes and penalties will have to be paid out of their proceeds before you can get a clear title. Your agent and title company will make sure that everything is kosher and there is no way/reason to attach a lien. That's the beauty of working with competent people.

I own a vacant lot in the City and I recently received a notice to clean it off. We heaped many piles of trimmings by the curb, I called the City and they came out and picked it all up the next day. I was thinking I should have dragged some of that crap in my garage over there as well...

bfskinnerpunk is on a distinguished road
Back in Orlando, the city would only pick up very neatly packaged yard depris.
Like, if you had dead limbs to pick up, they had to be cut down to 4 foot lengths and placed in small, individual bundles wrapped with twine.

When I bought here in Knoxville, I had to have MASSIVE trees cut down.. .they were either dead or almost dead and listing over the house.

The tree guys simply rolled the logs to the side of the road, and the city picked them up!

These were gigantic piles of logs and stumps and such. Probably a 10 feet high and 25 foot long mountain of logs.

I thought the city would balk at it, but no. I went to work on Monday and the stuff was gone by the time I got home.

I have only lived here two years, and have produced similar piles of logs probably five times and no problems.

The cool thing is that this makes it so that I can hire the cheapest possible tree guys and don't have to pay for hauling away.

Kelton
