Default Thackston School

Somebody recommended Thackston School for our children. Does any of you know it or knows somebody who sent his/her children there? I would appreciate your opinion about the school's organization, facility (I have not visited it yet), teacher's preparation, kind of activities the children are involved into etc. Thanks!

We checked it out. They teach sign language and manners. It was a nice school. We have friends who live in Island homes and are sending their kids there. We didn't choose it because our public elementary school is at the same level, i.e. great!

I lived in Maryville and commuted to Knoxville daily. My daughter went to Thackston until we moved in kindergarten. I absolutely LOVE Thackston. It is a wonderful school with wonderful teachers. That being said, there are public schools in Knoxville that are just as good, but if you are considering it as an alternative, I would definitely recommend it.

Thank you for your comments! In my post I forgot to mention that I was referring to the pre-K part of the school (our son is 3), but it is great to have information about the elementary schools also - we will need them

Oh, well in that case, I actually have a lot of input I can give you! My daughter was @ Thackston for both preschool and pre-k. She loved every minute of it. I was very pleased with her care and education. If there is anything specific I can tell you, let me know. I'll try and answer your questions. We are actually returning to Knoxville this summer, (looong painful story!) and plan to re-enroll my daughter there.

I went ther 45 yrs ago and I received a better education there than I feel I would have in public school. In the six grade I transferred to public school and was ahead of everyone else in my class that had always gone to public school. I loved the school and the personalization of the instruction.

We have a current 2nd grader at Thackston. We came from Farragut schools and wish we would have made the choice sooner. Well worth our drive for great school and wonderful teachers. It is warm and friendly, like you are dropping off your child at a home with family. It was a nice change from the teacher:student ratio at Farragut to the one at Thackston.
