Default Looking for encouragement...

Let me just start out by saying that I love you all--and adore the friends I have made here--

we are about to do something that MANY have warned against...and I wanted to tell you all, for support--I know many wont agree with it, and I get that...so I just wanted to share the exciting part of our news!

We are OFFICIALLY moving to Knoxville!! Our arrival date will be July 11!!!

The downside--we are moving without hubby securing down a job. HOWEVER, I do have employment, so while we won't be living the luxury life, we will be okay (hopefully!) until he does. We have just been turned down by SOOO many places b/c he does not have a local DL or address, etc. It is a little scary, and I would NEVER do it if I didnt have a job, but I also have access to overtime that will help us out if needed and I think we are prepared!!

We will be renting short-term in Bearden (just waiting on the apartment complex to let us know they got our deposit check) while we continue our house/job hunt--Obviously the job BEFORE the house...

Again, I know it's not our PERFECT ideal situation, but we are so excited!!

Who wants to help us move in ?!

It's not the perfect situation, but it is far from the worse! When we moved, without any jobs, that was the worst-case scenario. Still, it worked out fine for us.

It is true that it is a lot easier to get jobs once you are actually HERE.

It will work out!

What apartment complex are you going to?

Thanks, Hik

It is Greentree Village--not a whole lot of info about it on their site, but they had a ground floor apartment, short term lease, and FIRST floor--very inexpensively, too. If it'ss awful, I will remind myself that we are in TN, FINALLY

When we moved to our last place due to my husband changing jobs, we went from a third floor apartment to another third floor apartment and I had just had a c-section 6 weeks prior for my son who was 2.5 months early--we did it ALONE--no one to help us, and I swore no more 3rd floors, EVER!

When we moved to the first place on a third floor, my dad helped us move, and had a heart attack the same night. He passed away before he ever made it to the hospital...so I really despise moving, obviously

Welcome to Knoxville; it's a great place to live.

If you like outdoor activities you're coming at a great time of year.

Good luck with your move and your hubby's job search.

Well hey CONGRATS on taking the step!! Might I say, I'M IN THE EXACT SAME BOAT!?!?! Only difference, we'll be arriving in Oak Ridge, TN on July 15th! I have a job, husband does NOT! And as well, we'll be renting an apartment.

We're VERY excited to get out of Michigan and start a new life. I'm SO SO SO excited to not have to deal with piles and piles of snow shoveling this winter, YAY!! )

Well good luck, congrats and have a safe trip!

Well even though we dont have NEAR as much snow here as you do up there, my hubby, being in the apartment maint field has always had to be out in it, shoveling, etc, so I am glad there will be a lot less of that!

Good luck to you also, and I wish you all a safe trip as well!!

I'm so sorry to not respond. It has been busy at work. That looks like a nice complex. I don't want you to think I thought it was bad.

Back to work I go..

Thumbs up Welcome to TN. Hope u like Knoxville.

I live in Nashville(Central TN), mysticfire, and I am glad you all are moving to East Tennessee where Knoxville is. You are not that far from Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge and Chattanooga. If you like the outdoors, East Tennessee has a....here i go now...plethora(that's right I said it)of natural state parks, hiking trails, tourist attractions, and Lord knows what else. There's always stuff to do there. I even like the vibe of East Tennessee. I don't know where you are moving from, but the best way to come here is just do it. It'll been an adventure and I believe you'll want to make the most of it. People who have lived there all their lives or people who didn't get what they expected as transplants will always have negative things to say. That's not saying Knoxville is perfect. Other than that, i hope it is more than wah you expect for you and..I think u said you had kids and hubby should be able to secure a job. Best of wishes to all and drive safe, especially once you come into Tennessee.

The downside to Greentree is it is near the interstate. Other than that the location is very convenient to shopping, etc. Nice neighborhood. It might get a bit studenty in August, but with a short term lease that could motivate you to find a home after hubby gets employed.
