Looking for an apartment in Oak Ridge.
Hello,
My family is moving to Oak Ridge, TN, from California in this fall. We are looking for an apartment that is safe, nice and close to elementary school. I have a 5 year old son, so we are considering Woodland Elementary School for him. I prefer to have an apartment within walking distance from school (Is it safe to walk?). So far I have found two apartments, Bristol Park and British Woods apartments. Could anybody give us information about these two apartments? Are there any other nice apartments nearby Woodland Elementary school?
I would appreciate your help.

British Woods is too far for him (or you) to walk to Woodland. Bristol Park is do-able distance-wise but I would not let a five year old do it by himself.

Thanks for your advice
LauraC,
Thanks for your information.
I would not let my son walk to the school by himself no matter what happens.

Even from Bristol Park you would have a pretty good hike!! I sure wouldn't walk it.......too much traffic!! (I would definitely recommend Bristol Park as a nice and safe apartment community! Personally I consider it to be the nicest apartments in Oak Ridge!)

It's less than half a mile - .49 miles actually. Didn't you walk further than that when you went to school? Of course there would be a distance difference depending on which building you lived in within the complex and crossing Lafayette wouldn't be good.

Hey Laura......you are right!! I did walk over a mile to and from school (in the snow and barefoot....LOL) .....but that was also in the days when we attended neighborhood schools and there were at least 30 or more other kids walking also! But my point is more about the traffic - we didn't have four lane highways anywhere nearby either!!

bebette,
Thanks for your concern. It seems that crossing the road, Lafayette Dr. may not be safe. Unfortunately, I'd better drive to school considering the traffic.

I saw two reviews online and one was 4 out of 5 stars and the other was 3.5 out of 5 stars. That's all I know. Hope that helps.
