Tornadoes in Knoxville
Dear Roxy: We used to live in Memphis, and it seemed as tho tornadoes tore through Arkansas and showed up on our doorstep about every other week in the spring. We have lived here for 4 years, and have had less bad weather in these 4 years than 1 year in Memphis. I'm not trying to slam Memphis, we had lots of friends and enjoyed our time there, but the weather was defintely worse when it came to storms. There have been two tornadoes observed in Knox County since 1993. An F1 tornado occurred in Fountain City in 1995 and an F0 in Powell in 2000. There have been only 2 tornado related fatalities in Knox County since 1953.
