Question childcare in oak ridge? -- recommendations please!

Hi,

My husband and I are moving to Oak Ridge in the Fall, and I have just found out that I will be 15wks pregnant when I arrive! I know that good childcare facilities can have very long waiting lists, so I think we should start looking before we arrive.

Does anyone have any recommendations?? This is our first child, so we're really in the dark here. I think it unlikely that we'll be able to afford a nanny (although I'm not ruling out anything at this stage), so I think a good daycare center is probably what we're looking for. It is possible that we will need it from when our baby is 6wks old (although I'm trying to figure out a way to delay it a bit if poss).

Thanks in advance!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Isn't that wonderful!

I don't have any info for you, since I don't live close to there. Perhaps you could call some places.

My son attended Heritage Preschool (which is also a daycare, I think they take as young as 6 weeks). He just "graduated." We LOVED it there and I highly highly highly recommend it.

Hiknapster - thank you for the info, and your congratulations! Yes, we're very excited about the pregnancy (cautiously, it's still early days), and also pretty overwhelmed, so the info if v useful -- thanks!

Godsdove -- thank you so much for the recommendation! I will definitely look into Heritage. I've found it impossible to find actual reviews or opinions online, so this is very valuable to me. The only other place I could find information about was La Petite Academy -- do you know anything about that daycare? (just in case Heritage has a long waiting list).

Thanks!

I looked in Le Petite at some point, they didn't fit our needs at the time, but I thought they were excellent.

Is this your first baby? You have a lot of moms on here that would love to give advice. Ask anytime.

Yes, this is our first -- we are so excited! (and also terrified, overwhelmed, and panicky...) Thank you for such a warm welcome!

I personally don't know anything about La Petite. I don't remember who told me this, but I had heard that they were good though. We just found Heritage first and it just worked for us. Good luck!!

La Petite was where all the ghetto kids went when I was in elementary school. That was 1987-1993, however, so things may have changed in the last 15 years.

Default Oak Ridge daycares

Here is the link to the preschools & day cares in Oak Ridge. I would recommend getting one close to home. I dropped off/picked up my child at the other side of town then to/from Knoxville to work. It got to be way too much traveling. I switched to somewhere closer to home to relieve some of the rushed trips to be on time. I would recommend Brookside Learning Center cause everyone was wonderful, except one woman there. She seemed very angry/frustrated all the time. I would have probably kept my child there if she was not a factor.
