Default We're HERE!!!

WOW...it has been a long few days! We went and picked up the truck after I got off work Wednesday morning, and by the time we loaded up, went and picked up the kids, and drove 50 miles, I was so tired I thought I was going to fal asleep driving. So we stopped Wednesday night and drove within 30 miles of Knoxville on Thursday. The rental office here was open until 6 and when we stopped for the night, it was 6:30-so we knew we'd have to wait until Friday morning.

Once we got here Friday morning and got to the new place, everything went fine until we were shown the apartment that we had been told was a GROUND level--up 2 flights of steps!!!

Of course when we loaded up in MD, my husband had a guy help him and it took the 3 of us (me not so much help because of my medical issues) about 6hours to load the truck-so of course there was NO way we were going to make it just the two of us here....At that point I had no internet or anything obviously, or I might have been on here begging for help, LOL

But since my husband and myself both have dealt with Labor Ready in our previous/current jobs, we called over to them and got them set up for 2 guys tomorrow morning. THANK GOODNESS for that--so they'll have about 1/2 or maybe a little more truck to unload which shouldn't be too awfully bad

The place is okay since we're only going to be here short term. There are quite a few "issues" with the apartment itself but nothing we can't live with for a few months. We are actually only here for 5 1/2 months since we came in at the middle of the month--so hopefully hubby will find a job soon so that the househunting can commence!

The boys still haven't really "gotten" it yet...My middle one today asked when we were going back to MD....lol--said it was okay when I told him I didn't know, but we would only be going back to visit...they actually have been pretty well behaved--they have had a few meltdowns but it has been a LONG few days.

So this morning, unloading and returning the truck, and then 1 day of relaxation before I shove the hubby out to the pavement (lol) to find that job

I'll be scarce the next few days, but once things settle down, I'll be around asking all sorts of questions I'm sure.

Hik,
We should get our kids together!

Welcome to Tennessee. I'm glad that you all arrived safely! Good luck with the job search, kids adjusting and all that good stuff. Let us know how things are progressing! Sorry about the apartment but your attitude is great!

I got tired just reading your post.
Glad you made it in one piece, and with some semblance of sanity. Looks like it's going to be a nice day, so unpacking should go OK. At least it's not raining.

WELCOME!!!!!.....That was my "Official" welcome to Knoxville.

BY the way, here in East TN, ground floor can include several flights of stairs up or down (or both). It could also involve a small water crossing. YOu will get used to the terminology soon enough.

NEXT....you will get directions at some point that will include "where so and so USED to be.

IN the near future (probably within 6 months), You will GIVE directions that include "where so and so USED to be.

Welcome to Knoxville!

What a mess it is moving! When we came from Florida, my husband's trailer snapped in the middle of the night just north of Atlanta. I honestly thought we were going to have to live there, at one point.

How old are your kids? Lauren loves playing with other children!

Welcome home to TN!!!
Yep, I agree moving stinks. Never goes smooth, always a bump or two. It all seems worth it in the end though.
You were so smart to call Labor Ready, I would have just sat down and cried for a while hahahahahh.
Good luck and again, welcome home.

Welcome! I hate moving. You have my sympathy. But it will be worth it.

Welcome to Knoxville!! I used Labor Ready when we moved here last Oct. and it worked out great..they had the 26' truck all unloaded in under 2 hours!! Now when you get settled, you will have to join us in our meet and greet at Shoneys (or wherever) next time. Cindy
