Some kid friendly activities to try:
Books and Blooms - Held in the University Gardens, Books & Blooms is a family story time in partnership with the Knox County Public Libraries.
The programs include stories and nature crafts projects. They are offered without charge and are open to all ages. Pack your lunch and picnic in the Gardens afterward.
10:30 a.m. on Thursdays through October.
Visit Fort Kid downtown.
Across from the Knoxville Museum of Art at
1050 World's Fair Park
Knoxville, TN 37916
This elaborate play structure was built by volunteers during the city's 1991 Bicentennial Celebration and is located between the Victorian Houses and the Knoxville Museum of Art. With its thousands of square feet of slides, rides and swings, Fort Kid is a popular destination for school, church and daycare groups.
visit Kids Cove at the Zoo.
All are events that will let you meet other families with small children. You'll find it very easy to strike up a conversation.

Welcome Eliza, and hope you connect with some good friends. What part of town are you in, and I will be happy to help recommend several things to do.

Halls is nice, and you will like the setting. Several places close, is Big Ridge State Park, out of Maynardville, and also several places you can visit. Norris area for water is great, and the Appalachina Museum a great place to visit. For the best 10inch burger, be sure and visit Littons, in Ft. City, and several great churhces in area, and they will all have some mothers day out, and you can meet lots of folks, in same boat as you.
