She hates to move. She doesn't doubt that East Tennessee is better than her unfriendly, backward little town. But she has lived in that area for almost 74 years and it is tough to change.

I have two cousins left up there, so she is not completely alone. But she worked up to a few years ago. Not for the money, but for the love of working. I think the lack of stimulation may be affecting her memory. It isn't horrible, but I am becoming concerned.

I would like for her to move down.

She always said that if I would buy a house, she would come here. Not to move in with us. She wants to be on her own, but she wants a condo so she won't have to worry about the upkeep. Fred would be more than happy to do it, but she is very independent.

Anyway, she casually mentioned that she wants to live in a Christian community. I kind of figured that would be tough to do, but I will send her this info and see what happens.

I hate to have her finally move when she is too old to enjoy it.

Nancy Minton is on a distinguished road
Dear Hi (the k is silent): Down here in Maryville we have Asbury Place which has condos and then step up care as needed. It's affiliated with the Methodist Church and is pretty large - I think that she'd be able to find people with common imterests pretty easily. It will be good for you to have your Mom close - hope she comes down.

Wow! That seems to really fit the bill! Thank you!

And thanks for not calling me "hip," either.
