Senior Citizen Christian Condo Community?
My mother wants a condo but with lots of activities, perhaps run by a Christian church. It might be a long shot, but would anyone know of such a place?
Thanks!

Okay. Skip the Christian part. Anybody know of any over-55 communities around Knoxville?

There's a sign on I-40 near Lovell Road about one in the Tellico area.
There are a bunch in Crossville, most notably Fairfield Glade.
The ones in Knoxville seem to be more assisted living communities. There are a lot of activities at the Senior Centers, from dance lessons to computer lessons. And UT has their Creative Learning Center for people 55+, with lots of lectures and some trips.

There's the Summit Towers near downtown that have rent based on income. They do a lot of things.

I think there's a 55+ condo community in Fountain City, fairly new, down by the duck pond. They were building it when I was looking for a condo 4 years ago and it kept cluttering my searches.

Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church on Asheville Hwy will be building an adult community. Here is the link Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church - The Village at Chilhowee Hills
This will probably be one to two years before completion, so I don’t know if it would be something you and your mother would be interested in.

This stuff is great!
I'm really good at finding stuff for people, but for some reason, my google searches were turning up nothing.
My mom loves National Geographic, Time and anything to do with history, so I bet UT would be great! The duck pond condos sound really close. I may even have customers in those buildings, now that I think about it. Really sweet ladies.
And the Baptist church community would be superb. She's Lutheran but really likes Baptists, too!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!

One called and wanted a phone. Then her neighbor came in and wanted a phone, too. And then another neighbor. They were adorable!

Hik, I just saw this thread. I take it this means your mother is moving down here? That's so exciting!!!!
That duck pond place in Fountain City sounds wonderful. Your mother would be in easy walking distance of the arts center, the park, the duck pond (of course) and THE CREAMERY.
You know, you're going to become a real pro at finding places to live. First your beautiful new home, and now a condo for your mom.
Keep us posted!!

Congrats hiknapster, having a mom around, could be exciting and rewarding. As jmt, suggested, the Ft. City area would be great, and unfortunately, not many places for what you described. Tellico Village, does has some Townhomes, and Villas, and that only about a 30 minute drive from West knoxville area. I also heard about plans, for a development in the Halls area. Good luck, and keep us posted.
