Default Old North Knoxville

NORTH KNOXVILLE
Driving down Gaston Avenue,
You can still catch you a heck of view
People act like People supposed to,
You talk to them, they talk to you

(CHORUS) Thank God for North Knoxville,
Where this town still looks like itself
It’s the last place in America,
Ain’t trying to be somewhere else

It’s a whole lot peaceful and a little bit free,
Bookstore’s are small and they don’t serve tea,
Junior’s on the hill is open til three,
Grab that Sunday paper and sit with me and…
(CHORUS)

You may not run into a Mercedes Benz,
But you may run into some of your friends
Word up for west Knoxville,
Where the mall never really stops
Let’s hear it for South Knoxville,
Cheap property world class pawn shops
Thank God for North Knoxville,
Where the trees still got their tops
Thank God for East Knoxville,
May Magnolia bloom and never stop

People born here
Usually finish here too
The worlds a big place,
Hear it calling you?
Finally found a place
Where my soul can set
Live every day with no regret

(CHORUS)

Found a song I really loved thought I'd share with you Knoxville folks, the last line was particularly heartwarming.

I love it!!!!!!

While I like the entire Knoxville area, there really is something special about North Knoxville. I've become friends with two young couples who just moved here, one from Utah and the other from Oregon, one lives in North Hills, the other in Old North. They all just loooove this part of town because it's an affordable and honest-to-God neighborhood filled with people of all colors and backgrounds and great old homes and bungalows with full-grown trees, heirloom gardens and front porches that open onto actual sidewalks.

Plus, North Knoxville has Harby's!

Yep. I knew that you would love it, too. Got to love Harby's! I also love that I am just north of North Knoxville. Gosh, this is a great place to live, isn't it?

Thank you, JMT, for being my friend and guiding me here!

Of course, I have to say that I had dinner last night at Lakeside Tavern (not in a mall or even mall-like), and that Pecan Chicken Salad was really, really yum-o, even without EVOO (to quote Rachael). Savoring it while gazing out over the boats and enjoying the company of good friends and a good glass of cool chardonnay was really nice. Luckily, we were under a fan.

You know it! Litton's was closed for vacation last week, and I was in mourning every day until they opened back up this week.
