We just had a sitting judge (Judge Mike Meares), up for re-election, come to our door last night asking for our vote. I don't recall that ever happening here in Maryville / Blount County. We are not in a neighborhood and you have to purposely drive up to our house. I was quite impressed. To those of you that live here in the Greater Knoxville Area, are you experiencing this type of personal campaigning?

We live in West Hills and we've had a couple drop by. Unfortunately we weren't at home but they left stuff sticking in our front door.
It is impressive to have an actual candidate come to your door to see you and ask for your vote. We did go to a candidates forum held a few months ago at the I-75 Expo Center off Clinton Highway near Merchant's Road. We got to talk with most all the candidates one on one and found that enormously useful. Early voting is going on right now in Knox County so if you want to avoid long lines on election day visit one of the 10 spots now open. You don't have to go to any special one no matter where you live in Knox County. I voted the first day last week and it took about 10 minutes from walking in the door to walking out. There are sample ballots to study so you can pretty much know what you're going to do before you get to the actual voting machines. Last edited by jimlee; 07-21-2008 at 08:42 AM. Reason: add |

That just reminded me--I'm still registered to vote in Kentucky. Will I automatically be registered to vote here when I change my drivers license to TN?

Maybe, you need to call the election commission to make sure.

Had a card in my door from Amy Broyles, today, with a personal note saying she was sorry she missed us. She must be very honest, because we forgot to shut our front door!
