Sevierville area
You may want to check out the Boyd's Creek / Seymour area as there are many subdivisions to choose from in a broad price range. Some offer rentals as well. It is also convenenient to Knoxville since you will avoid the Hwy 66 traffic. Moderator cut: cut

I second this. Seymour is a great area roughly half-way between Knoxville and Sevierville. There's little to no traffic between Seymour and downtown Knoxville, and to Sevierville it's a piece of cake. Seymour has a couple of supermarkets (Kroger and Food City, I believe) and isn't far from Home Depot, Lowe's, and Wal-Mart SuperCenter towards Knoxville.
Plus, it's just so frickin' beautiful in Seymour! While I love living in the city, I think it would also be amazing to get out of bed and see the Smoky Mountains out your window every morning.

Seymour
I moved to Seymour 10 mths ago and I can attest to the fact that its beautiful here, nice quiet town with gorgeous Mountain views. I live in a rental townhouse and I am very happy here, just renewed my lease, interested in knowing about it DM me. We are only 20 min from downtown Knoxville and about 15 min to Sevierville and Pigeon Forge, best of two worlds.

weather and cost of living
The weather is warmer in Knoxville vs Asheville? How does the cost of living compare? I mean mainly to be in the outskirts of both towns? My husband has a lawn business and am looking towards warmer weather overall and scenic views.

The weather is considerably warmer in Knoxville. The average difference is probably 5-10 degrees with Asheville being cooler. Cost of living is very similar.
Asheville proper is probably a bit more scenic.

Knoxville is about 850 ft, Asheville 2200 ft. My guess would be about 5 degrees warmer.

Lawn maintenance
Not only is it warmer, but because it is warmer we have a longer growing season. We start mowing our grass in April (sometimes Mar) and keep on mowing through Sept. Usually our last mowing is in Oct, or until I cannot stand my teenagers complaining anymore

It varies, but I have mowed my lawn in early November before. It seems that in recent years our first killing frost is often not until Nov. 10th or later (the average for Knoxville is Nov. 2). One year it was nearly Thanksgiving before the leaves dropped.
