It's on the west coast. If you see anything it would be some rain. No worries!
By the way, I think you live fairly close to my dad and step-mom. They are in Melbourne.

Glad
This is the first time in over 60 yrs I havent had to personally worry about a Hurricane, its kinda nice although I do worry about my family ,although they are much inland so never too bad where they are, they do worry about tornadoes though and they expect a lot of those in the next couple of days in FL. My son in law is a Major with the sheriff Dept so I get information from emergency management which is more accurate and believe me all of Fl is going to get a lot of rain

The way the track is now 2.5 minutes ago. From just south of Naples>>> North East Exiting around the Space Center >> Oak Hill skirting the coast and heading for the outer banks of Georgia -- South -- North Carolina rain and wind west over too the foot hills of the Smokies if it gets that far....

Tinman my DS is just up the coast from you and has been telling me it won't be bad... although you will be on the "wrong" side of the hurricane/tropical storm. He says "...not even close to Charlie." So what's a mother to think?? LOL
I went to NOAA and here's what they say, figure they might have insider info...

Hoping all of our FL friends make it through without a scratch.

So far, just a rainmaker. Definitely not Charley. It's not even a hurricane. Now, if it moves off land and reforms, well, that is different.
I sure wish we could get some rain.
Last year, ran off to Lowe's, right after my surgery, which was a big "no-no," and made a container garden. That was in May. Didn't rain after that. I spent the entire summer dragging around a water container.
This year, we were doing pretty well with the rain, that is until I planted all those shrubs, perennials and winter vegetables.
It hasn't rained since.
Maybe I should rip it all out?

Schools are closed in all of the Central Florida counties tomorrow. Only two counties have announced closures for Wednesday. Rain forcast of 2-4" around Ocala and 5-9" in Daytona, Orlando and Melbourne. For those of us who survived Charlie, Francis and Jeanne 4 years ago, Fay is not seemingly as threatening at this time. It's the preparation that remains the same regardless of the strength of the storm. Still predicting hurricane status upon landfall somewhere between Naples and Fort Myers.
For those Knox TV viewers, remember Jeff Lenox? Well he is stationed in Fort Myers this evening and do live reports from there. Ft. Myers is hunkering down tighter than Naples residents.
Thanks to all for your prayers and well wishes for a safe journey through Fay's movement.

Honestly, I'm not too worried and I imagine the residents there, after going through Charley and Wilma, are pretty bored by the whole thing. Except for the newbies, that is. I remember when I was one and Georges skirted by. it was nothing, but I was having an anxiety attack.
Anyway, thanks for the idea about the news. I should be able to download the news from here. I hadn't thought about that.

I sure wish it would hit in daylight. I HATE night/early am storms. I also hate the aftermath. I am so thankful that it's a storm and might be cat. 1, but here in Fort Myers when Charley came through Port Charlotte, it was reported that we had TS/Cat 1 effects. So my thinking is that since we are getting hit head on, the effects will be the same. (I hope this makes sense.....I amreally tired right now)
I hope everyone here is safe and hunkers down! I am really going to miss this board for the next couple of days (our area usually gets power last )

Yes they are
Actually a lot of the residents of Florida are worried, my daughter went to get batteries today and there wasnt a battery left in the dollar store, water is out at a lot of the stores also. Florida has a lot of Mobile Homes and they have to worry as even 40 mile an hr winds can be bad for them. I think sometimes people do get too complacent because of all the false alarms they get but one of these days they wont heed the warnings and its going to be a Cat 5, I always took them all seriously, born and raised in FL makes you a little more aware than even the newbies.
