Shooting at Central High?!?!
OMG, my hubby just let me know about this-
First the church shooting and now this...what is wrong with people?!
Praying everyone is okay--last I saw there was no update on the condition of the one student that was hit.

Heard about this about 45 minutes ago. Seems people are going a little nutty in Knoxville lately.

Fred just called. Said there was a school shooting. I almost fainted until he managed to tell me it was Central.
That's a great school. It's where Lauren will be going.
I'm going to check out the details. I'll be back.

Anyone know the condition of the kid who got shot? I feel so sick about this. High School is such a tumultuous time and the kid who did the shooting just ruined his whole life in a second and I can't imagine the anger and frustration he must have felt to do something like that and I can't imagine how his family feels (assuming he has a "normal" caring family - I tend to project or imagine everyone would have the same emotions as me). How horrible for everyone concerned.
That's not the school Charz works at, is it?
Knoxville is so much nicer than this.

Last I read, the condition was unknown.
It is really scary...and I know Knoxville is better than this, but from a newcomer's POV, it can be a little scary--we thought moving away from Baltimore this kind of thing would be unheard of.
Now please, no one bash me for feeling like that--I still love it here and I am sure it was an isolated incident, but between this and the church shooting, it is a very unsettling feeling
Hik, when Shane said a school in FC, my first thought was of you and Lauren.

The poor kid who was shot was taken to U.T. Medical Center. I sure hope he's ok.
I'm impressed that it took the cops only 6 minutes to catch the perp after he ran out of the school. And, pardon my French, but I hope they nail his arse to the wall.
I have many dear friends whose kids go to Central HS. I've always considered it a good school, and this doesn't change that. I'm eager to find out just what the heck happened and who this punk SOB is who brought a gun to school.
In the meantime, my prayers are with everyone, including that SOB's parents who are undoubtedly humiliated by their son's actions.

This really is unheard of. I've been here for three years and my sweetheart, Dan, was born here back in 1960, has moved around some, but came back. I've had friends who have lived here and I've visited them for the past 15 years. So, although I've only been here for 3, I feel like it has been longer. I spent two years in the Nashville area trying like crazy to get someone here to hire me and pay for my relocation (then it happened three years ago, YAY!) just to get closer to my friends. I don't know what has been going on lately, but it has to be a fluke. I'm sorry on behalf of my city that these things are happening. I promise to get more involved in the community and be part of the solution. You know, being the change I wish to see, and all like that... I think that is another reason I'm moving into city limits - to feel less disconnected.

I agree wholeheartedly! I cannot even imagine the heartache his parent's must be feeling right now.

NO, it is understandable. I have lived here over 11 years, not even in Knox County and it is unsettling for me too. This is just an awful thing. I too hope the kid that was shot is ok and they keep the shooter locked up. I am concerned that they have not said yet whether the shooter was a student or not.

I think it's important for ALL of us to become more involved in our communities and neighborhoods.
