Make sure the land is perkable - have a soil test done to make sure it will support a well, a septic tank, etc.
Have you considered asking a realtor to find you what you want? Real Estate is kinda slow right now and Realtors are particularly helpful lately - especially if you know what you want and you are serious.
My Realtor found me my adorable house that I'm closing on this Friday and I had less to spend than you!
Granted mine just has 1/3 acre and is in city limits, so it doesn't suit your needs, but the point is that your Realtor should be working for you.
