KathiOH1, as you may already know, Indian Boundary Campground is within the Tellico Ranger District of Cherokee National Forest. I recommend calling the ranger station (423-253-8400) w/ any questions or concerns you may have.

Black bears are incredibly powerful, smart, and food-driven with a sense of smell much greater than a bloodhound's. Here's a very interesting article on attempts to thwart them:

We used bear bags when i hike the Smokies with scouts years ago.. never had an encounter.. only saw one baby cub running down a trail near Cades Cove.. didn't wait to see momma bear...
