Possibly moving to Knoxville area. (homes, neighborhood, homeschool)

We have a small 20 acre farm and raise Organic vegetables and chickens, used to have goats but Alfalfa here is around $300 ton! we Homeschool and love our country living but the neighbors are too "city" for us. We also live about 5 miles from a major Air Force base here and the military folk are just about everywhere. needless to say we need more privacy and we really want to live as Green environmentally as possible, we would like to have some acreage enough to support our family or sell if Organics sell well around Knoxville, what areas are there for Privacy but not too awfully far away from a large city are there to live where property is still at a decent price? any inside help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

If you don't mind rubbing shoulders with poor and working class folks, I think you'd fit right in to Vestal. It's a great place to live the country hippie lifestyle and still be close to city transit! For goats you'd have to be just outside the city limits.

20+ acre tracts are hard to come by but 5-10 acres are readily available if you know where to look. What is your price range?

To be more specific, Vestal is a neighborhood 2-5 miles southwest of downtown Knoxville. Country living in the city.
