I don't know, but TN had better wake up because I"m not going to visit the state to check it out for relocation purposes if I"m going to be paying 5 dollars per gallon of gas or greater. I live in high cost of living WA and we're not paying that much here, and we usually lead the nation (aside from CA and AK) in that area. There is a difference between a bonafide crisis and taking advantage of a situation, and this sounds like the latter

Its not just Pilot, every station here in Seymour is about $4.99 except Krogers and its $4.69, Walmar is $4.59 I believe, they are all high as heck and there was no reason for them to go up like they did the day before Ike hit. Its highway robbery, my sister is paying $3.69 in Florida

The annoying thing about Pilot is that it's a Knoxville company owned by the Haslam family, as in Bill Haslam, Mayor of Knoxville.
Too bad he's term limited and we can't vote him out of office.

Wow, thats crazy! Why so high in TN? The highest I've seen in the Dallas area is $3.71, but I am seeing $3.40-$3.50 regularly.
I do understand the prices going up due to the storm though. We could be sitting on 10 trillion barrels of oil, but if the ability to refine it into gasoline is reduced, then gas will go up, plain and simple.
But it seems that the increases of 20-30 cents are somewhat understandable, but the $4+ is just flat out price gouging.

Tonight on the way home from work I noticed the 4.99 this am are now 4.59. Need to come a whole lot lower. It used to be Knoxville's average was below the nation, now we have top ranking. Gee what a ranking.

I had furniture delivered yesterday. The delivery guy came cross-country and said gas was $3.50ish everywhere, until he hit Tennessee. Then he watched it climb steadily from Nashville all the way to Knoxville, where it peaked at $4.99. We have the highest gas prices in the country, for no reason other than egregious and unchecked price gouging. While everybody knows we have a crooked "good ole boy" government here in Knoxville, they are really flouting it this time. Something needs to be done, and Mayor Haslam has a clear conflict of interest. So where is the governor? It's time to govern.

It seems to be drifting down. It's $3.99 at the Conoco on Lovell Road tonight, and Pilot was down to $4.49 off I-40 last night.

Still $4.49 at Pilot and Weigel's, except Weigel's says they're out.
Has everybody signed the petition? Florida and North Carolina have issued subpoenas to gas companies for price gouging, due to consumer complaints. It just took 350 complaints to spur action in FL; 4129 in Knoxville alone doesn't seem to be enough for TN. Guess the local government isn't motivated.
