What race are they? If your kids are polka dotted they might be teased. Any other races will be just fine. Read up the previous threads on here regarding the same issue ok? Good luck in your move.

We have African American populations here and your children would not stand out (in a negative way as to be teased).

Knoxville is about 15-20% African American. Probably 5-10% in the county suburbs. More than some expect but less than, say, Memphis (~50%?, guessing). It was higher than this prior to about 1940. Quite a few left for factory jobs in the north.

Just an aside, I think the city of Memphis proper is more like 60% AA.
Knoxville is very diverse. I guess statistics don't lie (Well... ), but when I lived there it always felt like there were many more people from all over the world than what the Census shows.

Kids tease each other. That's just the way its always been, no matter where you live or what you look like. Your kids can be teased for lots of stupid reasons, and it might not have anything to do with their race. If they do get teased, don't automatically assume its because of their race. You as a parent can't stop all of it, the best you can do is to instill in your kids a sense of self-confidence and inner strength. If you do a good job of this, then the teasing won't have any lasting effect on them. It will also help them get through tougher challenges later in life.

I went to public school in Tampa. I'd much rather have been a student in Tennessee and we'll leave it at that.
