Default Design jobs in Knoxville?

I am planning to relocate to Knoxville sometime in late '09 after I get my degree in Interior Design. Are there many places for a designer to work in Knoxville? How about IT or computer networking jobs?

Hey mandakay0706, not a whole lot of interior design places, unless you can connect with some local builders and developers. As far as the IT jobs, need to probably check Oak Ridge, with ORNL labs, and all the government places there.

Your best best is to check Monster.com and call the local employment agencies. Not many companies put out job ads anymore, they usually rely on placement agencies to find qualified applicants. This is especially true in the technical fields.

There are quite a few Architectural firms in Knoxville. They may very well have openings for interior designers. I am looking for a consulting engineering job (hvac design).

Dave is in Tampa, FL.
The DOE jobs around here are listed on their websites and they do not list on Monster.

Yes, I currently live in Tampa. I own a 3.5 acre homesite near Halls Crossroads, now just waiting for the dang housing market to eventually turn around so I can sell my house here and move!
An all-out job search means exploring all sources: online job sites like monster, the newspaper, employment/temp agencies, company websites, etc.

Here is a site that has some links that may be of interests, it lists numerous designers, firms, architectural sources, advertisers, print media, and what not. May be worth giving a call to one of them and shop talk the current market for careers in this area. There is also some freelance work available on here that may provide some supplemental income.

That has been my approach. I am sending out resumes and cover letters to every engineering firm i can find that has an email and/or fax number. Down to calling them in person now. I did find that quite a few had job postings on there web sites where they were not listed thru Monster or some of the other job search engines. It's a tough job market right now, just have to be persistant and positive.
