As someone that has lived in both Farragut and Maryville city and had children enrolled in both systems I want to say, come visit! Both have pros and cons. My mother lives in Farragut and you couldn't pry her out of there. After my first grader was taped to his chair at Farragut Primary I couldn't get out of there fast enough. (yes, the teacher admitted it - she teaches there still today). I have friends that are teachers in Farragut and also in Maryville. I know how they feel about their situations. I do love being 15 min from the GSMNP, 15 min from the boat ramp (Loudon Lake), 20 min to Turkey Creek, 20 min to downtown Knoxville from here in Maryville. I had a gorgeous lake view in Farragut but I love my mountain view more here in Maryville. It comes down to personal choice and lifestyle. For folks moving to the area Farragut is a great choice. There are a lot of transferees there. Back when I went to UT 4 of us girls lived on the lake in Farragut and we had to pass a lot of farms to get there. Sadly, most of those farms are gone. There are still farms here in Blount County and I love seeing horses and cows (and yesterday I had to wait for a hen to cross the road!) on a daily basis. We're laid back and low key around here. Let us know what you decide!
