I've lived with one bathroom and with two. Two is better. That's what I have now. One is "en suite" with the master bedroom and I share that with the cats' litter boxes.
The other is near the guest room and is kept nice for guests. When the toilet went out in one -- mine always do -- I still had the other one.
In my house in Maryland I only had one and it was up a flight of stairs. I will never, ever do that again. I need at least a half-bath downstairs.

Hi everyone, the OP here. I have been off thinking and reading about Dallas, TX.But I have come back again to TN as my top pick. I enjoyed reading all your comments, even if I wasn't necessarily the focus of all of them.

You probably didn't expect this conversation to end up in the toilet :-).

Let us know what else we can help with.

Yep, of all the State forums, in my experience, the Tennessee one is the best.

Says a lot about the State and it's people.

Humm, did you notice the not so obvious connection with your name?

"Creeksitter"

If you're into uniform looking neighborhoods, Farragut is a good place to look. If not, I prefer West Knoxville, as there's plenty to do.

I am currently living in Denver. I am looking to move in the next two months.
There are a lot of suitable areas in Denver that fit my needs (in-town,
non-suburban, charming house, cafes nearby), but the houses in these areas are far outside my price range.

My price range is only 120-125K. Houses in Denver in this price range
are pathetic, and this is the primary reason I am relocating.

I am looking closely at Knoxville because it has the kind of X factors I am interested in.
It is a larger city, and yet has a college town influence.
It has the Smokey Mountains nearby. And lots of rivers and trees.

So do you have any suggestions for nice neighborhoods where a single
guy won't feel out of place, and yet where I can afford to live? I want a detached house and not a condo.

Work is not an issue right now, I will find work regardless.

I just don't want to live in a scuzzy neighborhood where most of the houses are in need of razing, I definitely want some modest charm.

I am very serious about my move so thanks for your ideas.
ps.. I am 40.
You just can't go wrong in any area of Knoxville! I love it, we moved back here after moving back home. It feels more like home here! It's a great place to live, and each area has it's own advantages! Right now there are lots of great deals in that price range, so you should be able to find a great house. Some of them might be foreclosures, which can sometimes be trashed, but most of them are still good deals!

I would state my opinion on destinations, but I think the previous posts gave a pretty good tally of areas to search in. Most homes in this price range will be older, but defintely and A+ on the charm. Many have been tastefully remodeled a bit, but not too much as to keep with the appeal of the exterior of the home. Welcome to Knoxville soon, and I think you'll be pleased with what our area has to offer.
I saw the links you posted earlier in this thread...I'm a complete newbie to this area and absolutely amazed at what you can get for a low price...how inspiring! Are any of the homes in Fountain Hills, and if not could you please post some links to character homes in that area in the $80,000 (or a bit more) range? I am so excited about the checking Knoxville out!
Thank you.

OK, sorry about that...if anyone can give me instructions on where to search myself (if that's allowed), I would appreciate it!
Thanks
